Some beans to spill

Now that all the appropriate parties have been notified (i.e. my parents), I can finally spill the beans.

Tex and I are moving in together this summer!

We've already started making my apartment a two-person friendly space (I even cleaned out a closet for him, that's love) and have made plans for random improvements/stuff to do this summer.

So, I'm pretty stoked.

Much to my surprise, the rents took it really well. Both said they were happy for me (weird!) and didn't get angry at all. They must really like Tex. Somewhat disappointing though, I had sorta wanted a good fight, hahaha.

Final move-in or die date? End of June (but I'm hoping more like June 1 as limbo doesn't really suit me). I worry a little that he'll see how crazy I am alllllll the time and run for the hills, but he's reassured me otherwise, so I'm pushing it to the very back of my mind.

Since I'm about to embark on a fantastic domestic adventure, I should have more to blog about (rejoice!). Also, I'm accepting any/all tips on better living with lover/partner/significant other/etc...

This kid = happy.

When the whistle blows

Really moving and provocative story from LATimes.com this week about kids who ride the rails instead of growing up.

On the run from everything but each other

It reads like one of those heartbreaking movies about star-crossed lovers. Dunno why, but it really hit home.

Your name or mine?

Women who get married face a decision: change or keep your last name?

The issue is often fraught with awkward conversations between would-be spouses, their friends, family members, and everyone else who feels it's necessary to contribute two cents.

And then, there are those cases when the government steps in, like in Germany...

German triple-barreled ban holds

The German government is prohibiting its citizens from having more than three last names. In the case of one couple, the woman wants to add her name to her husband's already hyphenated surname, but no dice.

The reason the government doesn't want this trilogy to occur? "The court ruled surnames made of three or more different names made it more difficult to trace back a family line."

Eeek. There's something distinctly threatening about this. Why does family lineage matter? Which also seems to beg the question: who exactly are they trying to keep out/in?

Just sayin...sketchy, Germany, super sketchy.

Guilty pleasures

Spotted an article on CNN.com written by a dude about guilty pleasures.

It's a pretty funny read, basically saying that men don't have any and women should revel in theirs.

I certainly have a number of (sometimes) blush inducing guilty pleasures, including:

- Celebrity gossip, I may or may not check TMZ.com and Eonline.com at least once a day
- Super girly movies, such as Mamma Mia!
- Twilight books, movies, gossip, etc... yep, I've even read that unfinished copy of Midnight Sun on stepheniemeyer.com

There's more, but you get the point. Also, it's Friday. That is rad. Much more of an obvious pleasure than a guilty one. Anyways, back to work for me.

Yay eventual onslaught of weekend-ness!
